Col.
Robert Winters USAF (Ret.) has sent us some fabulous photographs
from his time at Boxted
with the 62nd Fighter Squadron.
The first P-47 allocated to Bob as his personal aircraft
was a D-28 coded LM-K which he named "Homesick Angel".
Later he was allocated an M model which was also coded LM-K
in which he was photographed from a B-17 during a flight
to test smoke dispersal wing tanks.
There are also extremely rare views of the 62nd FS Ready
Room at Boxted.
Bob would like to make contact with any pilots and ground
staff who served with the 62nd FS
during his time at Boxted or their relatives. He was posted
to the 56th FG in August 1944 and remained at Boxted until
the summer of 1945. If you can help him get in touch with
any of these people please CONTACT
US. |
