56th Fighter Group in World War II

WANGFORD MEMORIAL DEDICATION
Saturday October 9th 2010 saw the dedication of the recently resited memorial at Wangford and another chapter in the "Wings Of War" story was written when Christine Albert
and her husband Chris Gage performed the song as part of the service.
It was extremely moving not only to have family members present but especially so to have them honour the memory of Richard Albert and Roger Phillips in such a unique way.

More unique music was provided in the form of a Rolls Royce Merlin when Maurice Hammond added to the tributes
in his P-51 Mustang "Marinell", and I don't think there was a dry eye amongst the people who had gathered for the ceremony
as he flew over the memorial with the sun glinting off the "silvered wings of Angels". A truly special moment.
The day concluded with a concert by "Albert and Gage" at Wangford Village Hall,
and I don't think that poor piano knows what hit it. Nice one Chris!!
